Service Terms

These terms outline the agreement between Cambridge Garden Tool Library and anyone hiring our equipment. Please read them carefully before submitting a booking. By confirming a hire, you acknowledge acceptance of these terms.

Cambridge Garden Tool Library 27 Hills Road, Cambridge CB2 1NW, England Email: [email protected] Phone: +44 1223 674 912

2. Booking and collection

  • All hire requests must be confirmed by email or phone before collection.
  • Identification and proof of address may be required for first-time customers.
  • Tools are issued clean, checked, and accompanied by basic usage guidance.

3. Hire duration and returns

Standard hire periods run per day unless otherwise stated. Extensions are subject to availability and must be arranged in advance. Equipment should be returned on time and in similar condition to avoid late fees reflecting additional wear or missed maintenance slots.

4. Care and responsibility

Hirers must use tools in a safe, reasonable manner and for their intended purpose only. We do not cover damage caused by misuse, neglect, or operation beyond stated specifications. Always follow the safety notes provided and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

5. Liability and insurance

We maintain public liability insurance for activities on our premises. Once equipment leaves our site, responsibility rests with the hirer for the duration of the hire. We are not liable for indirect loss, property damage, or injury resulting from improper tool use. Hirers are encouraged to verify their own insurance cover if needed.

6. Payment and pricing

Prices are displayed clearly on our website and confirmed upon booking. Payments are accepted by card, transfer, or approved voucher scheme before collection. Invoices and receipts are provided upon request for business or allotment records.

7. Cancellation and refunds

Bookings may be cancelled without charge up to 24 hours before collection. Cancellations after that time may incur a partial charge if tools have been prepared or reserved.

8. Maintenance and faults

If a fault occurs during hire, stop using the tool immediately and contact us. Do not attempt repairs yourself. We will arrange an exchange or inspection. Faulty items returned early are inspected promptly, and fair adjustments are made to your hire record.

9. Privacy and data handling

Personal data collected for hire transactions is processed under our Privacy Notice in accordance with UK GDPR. We store only essential contact and booking information required to fulfil our services.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes shall be handled in local courts within the jurisdiction of Cambridge.

11. Changes to terms

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect legal or operational changes. The version published on our website at the time of booking will apply to your hire.
